Introduce yourself…

Hi, my name is Danilo Orsi-Dadomo. I am a striker for Hampton and Richmond Borough in the Conference South.

How do you prepare for an (important) competition? (music, rituals, etc.)

I make sure that, from the moment I arrive to the ground, I’m fully focused on the game ahead. In the changing room, I always put my right boot on before my left boot, and when I step out onto the pitch, I always step with my right foot before my left foot.

Could you tell us about your experience at youth football?

I was fortunate enough to play my final two years of youth football out in America, which was a great experience as I got to travel and see a different part of the world while learning a different style of football (soccer). It was a lot more of a technical game as opposed to the more physical side that is present in English football.

By East Thurrock United FC you began your senior career. Did you noticed a lot of difference between your youth academies and senior career ?

Yes. The first big difference was the physical side. The first game of the season was Woking at home which was a real eye opener for what was to come. And of course, with men’s football, it’s about the result, instead of focusing as much on your own development as a player.

In October 2018, you moved from East Thurrock United FC Hungerford Town FC. How was your time there ?

I absolutely loved my time at Hungerford– it’s a really nice, intimate club. Working under Ian Herring and Kevin Watson really helped me to adjust to the Conference South. We were a really young side who were in the relegation battle when I joined the club, so to be the top goal-scorer and to help us stay in the league was an amazing achievement.

Since July 2019 you played for Hampton & Richmond Borough FC. Why did you chose for Concord ?

Gary and Fabs gave me a call and we had a meeting, and it became clear that we were both heading in the same direction. From the discussions we had I could trust that themselves and Freddie, Dave, and Junior would help me to progress and develop in the next year.

What is the best thing about playing for Hampton & Richmond Borough FC ?

H&R is like one big family. From my team mates to the fans, everyone looks after each other, and I think that’s how we transformed the slow start into a strong campaign.

What is the most important football lesson you have learned and who taught you that?

My grandad taught me to never give up, always keep going and to make sure you always give 100%, not only in football but in life. This is definitely the most important lesson I’ve learned.

What were your highs and lows during your football career?

My biggest high in America would be when I was awarded the First Team All American award while playing for Eastern Florida college, where I scored 34 goals in 30 games. My biggest high since being back in England is being top goal-scorer for H&R this year, scoring 15 goals in a strong play-off push.

Danilo, what are your personal goals for the rest of your career?

To play at the highest level possible and to achieve as much as possible. I look at Jamie Vardy and others who have had a similar career path and use that as inspiration.
